In a change to the usual Club calendar, this season’s Club Championships will take place between Friday 17th and Saturday 25th November.
It was decided to move the Championships to the winter, mid-season in the team calendar, where we hope a larger amount of members will be around, fit and encouraged to enter.
The Club felt that holding the tournament in the summer, at the end of the team fixtures, meant that many members were unable to participate due to holidays, injury or end of season fatigue. It was also a congested time of year with Finals week, Easter bank holidays, Northumbria Squash presentation night and players away competing in senior and international tournaments. Available dates were few and far between before it was deemed too late in the summer. With the extra 2 days added to the event in November, we can accommodate most members mid-week availability restrictions.
We hope that by moving this event, you are encouraged to enter to make this one of our best Championships. There will be graded events for all standards, and Finals night will see a buffet and live music for everyone to enjoy.
