Up and down the country this weekend sees the beginning of the Junior Inter County Championships season, and on Sunday, Tynemouth will play host to some of England’s finest youngsters.
We’ll be the Northern hosts for Stage 1 of the Boys U19’s, with Northumbria up against the squads from Durham & Cleveland, Yorkshire and Lancashire. Representing Northumbria will be Tynemouth’s Sam Evans, making the step up for his first appearance with the U19s.
Elsewhere in the country, Tynemouth’s Matthew Walsh and Lennox Lockwood are off to Carlisle to represent the Boys U17s, while team mate Nathan Dobson travels to Harrogate with the U15 squad. Heading to the National Squash Centre in Manchester will be Sam Sweeney and, recently crowned County Champion, Tom Walsh representing the Boys U13s, while the Rowell Twins, Amy and Emma, are in action in Pontefract with the Girls U19 team on the Saturday.
Finally, huge congratulations to Emily King, who is making her maiden County appearance this weekend. She has been chosen to represent Northumbria U13 Girls up the road at Jesmond this Saturday.
Best of luck to all the Tynemouth and Northumbria Juniors in action this weekend, and there is sure to be some scintillating squash on show at the club on Sunday if you’d like to pop in and support Sam and the boys.
